I was a little hesitant to purchase this book as it didn't have any reviews, and I am so glad I did! I was really impressed by the amount of information packed in this book--there is a sample day-by-day feeding guide for each stage as well as a detail list of "dos" and "don't" for what food to feed to baby through each stage. The organization of this book makes it very easy to leaf through and look for a certain type of recipe, i.e raw purees, cooked purees for stage 1 and breakfast, starter protein and dessert for stage 2 and so on. I love that there are glossy photos throughout for inspiration, as well as nutritional information on ingredients used on each recipe on every page! This is a great book for moms looking to feed their baby nutritional/delicious food--highly recommended!!!

I bought this to make baby food for my 7 month old nephew. I learned about this book from a friend who told me about all these wonderful meals she was making for her little one. The recipes are easy and the author provides good explanation as to the why and when to feed your baby certain food. I also appreciate that she explains the health benefits of certain foods to your baby.

I bought this book the help give me ideas and aide me in making nutritious and preservative free baby food and this book has some great ideas as well as some questionable ones, but just being able to look up the best way to cook a certain fruit or veggie for the baby food is priceless information.

This cookbook is a little out there if you ask me. It is very informative and thorough, but the recipes and a bit too complex to cook for a baby, in my humble opinion. Plus, on the calender that they have you use, you will have a ton of leftovers. I may use this cookbook more when my baby is older.

I was very dissatisfied with the book when it arrived. Not for the content, but the condition of the book was disgusting. It was posted as in good condition. With that posting, I expected some wear and tear to be present; however, the book had obviously been used in the kitchen (understandable since it is a recipe book); however, the seller could have taken a moment to wipe the book down. It arrived with food stuck all over the front and back covers. It went in the recycling trash bin. Disgusting.

This was a very good basic peds heme/onc book. I wanted a quick reference book to use while on my pediatric heme/onc rotation and this fits the bill. The chapters break down major topics (e.g. hemolytic anemia, hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, acute leukemias, germ cell tumors, etc.) but the book isn't all-encompassing. It covers topics with enough detail that I felt I could successfully answer questions from my attending while on rounds and confidently talk to and answer questions from patient's parents. But it's not so detailed that I felt like I needed to be a heme/onc fellow or attending in order to understand the material.Pros:-Lots of algorithms: Covers approaches to working up different heme/onc conditions (one of the features that made me decide to get this book instead of other books)-Lots of tables: Easy-to-find visual representations of symptoms, lab findings, differentials, treatments, etc.-Case Studies: At the end of some chapters there are cases to review and reinforce what the chapter covered-Formulary Chapter: Lists chemo agents, dosing, mechanism of action, pregnancy category, indications, side effects-Procedure/Therapy Chapters: Not something you might think of right away but definitely important topics in the management of heme/onc patients (e.g. transfusion medicine, stem cell transplantation, central venous catheters, acute pain management, palliative care, guide to procedures)-Relatively compact size: At about 9 x 6 x 0.75 inches, it's a little too big to fit in my lab coat pocket. But it's lightweight and small enough that I could carry it around all day with no problemsCons:-No histopathology images: Seems like that would've been an obvious thing to include in a heme/onc bookAll in all, this is book has been very helpful to me and I would recommend it to anyone in need of a basic pediatric heme/onc reference.

For someone in Pulmonary, you can imagine I really just need a cursory over-view of hematology and oncology. That said, I appreciate the survey in the field of heme-onc that truthfully I fall back on more often that one might think. For pediatric residents, this is a fair amount of information (particularly on the long road leading to boards), and this is a really handy reference to have around. For Heme-Onc professionals/fellows it may not be quite as in depth as they may like - others can probably speak better to this than myself. A highly recommended book, and an easier read that you might think. I would highly recommend this book - if only other subjects had good review books/light references such as this.

This new edition is a great improvement over the last. New chapters covering more of the basics. Very practical information and easy to use though some topics are not covered.

This handbook provides a great general summary on major peds heme/onc topics for both pediatric residents and fellows. It provides a quick general reference with significant important details. I would recommend this to any pediatrician or health care professional interested in peds heme/onc.

In my residency program we are required to do two Hem/Onc months, one of which is during intern year. Having never done Heme/Onc before this book was an absolute life saver. I read it from beginning to end during my month and always read up on new admissions prior to having to present to the attending or prior to rounds. Ultimately many of the "pimp" questions I was asked, I was able to answer from having read chapters in this book. I learned a ton, easy to read. Just the right amount of detail.

This book has just about everything you need as far as looking up meanings and such. My only negative comment is I wish that it came in a Hard back version although I won't take a star off because I know it's not amazons fault it's not printed in hard back. With the overall size and I mean this book is giant! It would be a lot easier to lug around and use if a hard back version could be printed. It came well packaged although I believe amazon should wrap it in plastic wrap to protect the edges and incase the box would have gotten wet so for that I deducted one star.

I love this book. I am currently a first year in vet school and it has been a life saver to keep on my desk when I am reading through my notes and come across a word I have not seen. The book includes a list of muscles, actions, innervation, arteries, etc., which is extremely helpful for anatomy classes. A must have for any vet, pre-vet student. You basically learn a whole new language in your classes and this helps to understand it.

Very useful, and I'm glad I purchased this. Some medical websites do not have the correct terms I need for veterinary technician classes. My only grievance is that on some pages, the terms (in blue) are almost double printed (like they have a shadow). Terms are still legible so it's more of a bookworms grievance.

It's alot to take in at once. So, I made a planner in order to finish this book and Wow love everything about it. Its a must to have for your self and a quick reference for your knowledge.*pretty heavy to carry around but a great book overall*

Pretty much exactly what I expected and needed. Great for vet tech school to look up those things that your other books do not explain well, or as a quick reference. It's really easy to look up words and terms with the way it is organized. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because my copy arrived with the front cover bent, which I'm kind of mad about because I paid upwards of $50 for it new from Amazon. I also wish it was a hard cover book rather than paperback - would make more sense with the amount of pages (and the bent cover wouldn't have happened.)

Came in good condition! Book haves vocabulary words in navy blue font color and haves colored real life pictures and cartoons.

I purchased the Kindle version. The search function looks for every instance of the word, not the instance with the definition. When I finally find the definition it makes little sense and I end up using Google instead. I wish I hadn't wasted my money!

I use this book to hold down my bookshelf most of the time, but I do occasionally pull it out when I'm not doing homework/research near my electronic devices. (GASP!) For its size, I wish sometimes that it was a hardback cover instead a paperback. If I didn't already have a physical copy, I would've just bought the Kindle version and saved some space.

Initially bought this book because it was required for a course on pre-trial skills. However, the model templates are worthless and I quickly found that Google searches will yield better (and free) templates. Ended up reading 12 pgs. out of 739 pgs. when I decided that my professor's lectures and searching for best practice templates would serve my education better.

About the Author

Fred Rogers was many things—a minister, a musician, a puppeteer, and a friend to generations of children. He was everyone’s very good neighbor. For over 30 years he created and hosted the groundbreaking educational television series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, among other distinguished honors.Luke Flowers has illustrated over 42 children’s books, including his author/illustrator debut series Moby Shinobi, a Scholastic Easy Reader that has sold 800,000+ copies across three books since 2016. I love the idea behind this and, having grown up with Mr. Rogers and the rest of the gang I appreciate that the positive messages he brought to children's television are still relevant and being put out in other media forms. The illustrations that go along with the songs/poems are great, really fun and sweet and add to the poems overall. That being said, some of the poems down on paper without the melody of the music make them not so enjoyable to just read. I wish this had come with a cd that could be used while reading along or for riding in the car. Fans of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood will recognize many of the items in this book and will probably delight in sharing them with their children; those who are new to Mr. Rogers might not enjoy this quite as much as some of the songs just don't work so well on paper.

I knew right away when I saw the cover of this hardcover book that it would be special. The cover illustration is brilliantly colorful and shows a gleeful Mr. Fred Rogers in all his glory with his famous puppet friends.Open the book and you'll find in the table of contents a listing of an astounding 75 songs in the form of poems. Several are singalong classics many of us know from Mr. Rogers' popular PBS show, but most were new to me.The majority of these poems get to the heart of who children are and what they feel, and they also gently teach. The simple advice resonates in the lyrics of poems such as "Be the Best of Whatever You Are" and "I Like You as You Are." The poem/song "Children Can" nails to a tee what it's like to be small. Other poems such as "It's Good to Talk" are encouraging and encourage introspection.There is lots of positivity and encouragement here. It makes you wonder why adults need therapy, drugs, or loads of self-help books to get by in life when they could simply listen to the words of Mr. Rogers. "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" takes me back to a more innocent time and makes me wish people in society were more like Fred Rogers.Simple. Fun. Honest. Beautiful. Bright. Those are some of the ways I would describe this book. "You Are You" shows that we are universal in the sense that we're all different. Occasionally there are poems that don't teach but are cheerful, fun, or goofy, ones such as "Elephants," "Summer Rain," "It's an Ugly Day," and "Walking Giraffe." But mostly, these are poems that show children they are special and that they can dream and do.The writings are simple, often repetitive, and subtle in their teachings. It was fun to come across the several works that Rogers collaborated on with Josie Carey, who contributed as the lyricist, with Rogers handling the music. Her words were often a bit more complex and plentiful than Rogers', though not always. Their songs/poems together include "Find a Star," "Then Your Heart is Full of Love," "Creation Duet," and "I'm Tame."It's not all rainbows, friendships, and balloons, however, as Rogers knew that kids go through tough things; some of his songs reflected that. He has a tender way of saying to them "You can get through it." I can envision children pondering the meaning of some of these words and looking inside themselves to search their feelings. A sense of realism often comes through in the lyrics, as shown in the poem "Good People Sometimes do Bad Things."And in some of these poems, I think Rogers is conveying what he's been through personally and how he feels and gets through difficult moments in life.I haven't said nearly enough about the brilliant drawings by Luke Flowers, whose illustrations are lively, colorful, and detailed. His images complement the work wonderfully and offer a modern bent to Rogers' timeless music."A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" ends as if rock stars are doing an encore: The last three songs/poems are "I'm Proud of You," "Tomorrow," and, what else, "It's Such a Good Feeling."If I had a newborn child, I'd buy him or her this book in a heartbeat. But you know what? As an oft-confused adult who sometimes gets it wrong, this book is still invaluable and inspirational.

I didn't grow up watching Mr Rogers, but of course knew who he was. Even many of those I know who watched him were unaware that he had written the lyrics to songs performed on his show. This book has 75 of these poem/songs and it is one delightful book.Geared to children, it holds wisdom that many adults could benefit from. It's the kind of book that a child's parent, relative, godparent, grandparent, babysitter or nanny would enjoy, and learn from, while reading to a child.Within these various songs/poems, there is a great deal of "guidance" and inspiration about interacting with the world around us and learning how to BE and accept, and celebrate, one's self. These works are proof that you can, even from the youngest ages, create a positive environment of learning for a child. Feelings and emotions are dealt with in a way that, honestly, are as helpful to adults as any child. So many challenges we all face are dealt with in a straightforward way that belies the great heart and emotional intelligence behind the word.There is an honesty and a simplicity to the verses but also great depth--the sign of timeless literature, no matter its form.This is a book that should be read in daycare centers, in kindergarten, in any place where children are gathered.Reading this, as an adult, I find myself feeling uplifted and comforted. I can only imagine what a difference this could make in a child's life if it were read to them, if they were exposed to its kindness, compassion, acceptance for ourselves and others, as they grew up. It makes me wish I had had someone to read them to me. Luckily, as an adult, I can read them myself.Among my favorites (that could be directed just as easily at adults) are:>Many Ways to Say I Love You>Sometimes Isn't Always>You've Got to Do It>The Truth Will Make Me FreeThis book is a joy and a delight. It's on my gift list for the families I know with young children.Illustrations are geared to children and delightfully straightforward (I'm not looking for artistic flights of fancy in a book that is written with younger children in mind.)

This is a book I was happy to see made available in the Kindle store, as I'd read it before. I love that it's now digitized, but there was apparently no copy editing done, and some of the machine conversion of text is quite flawed. For example, about one third of the time, Pope Paul is "Pope Paid." Huh? Really? If Amazon were to fix the editing mistakes in the book, I'd give it four stars. Alas, as it is I'd only award two stars.

Pontiff is outdated in its take on Turkish politics and the background on the assassins who made up the Gray Wolves. As a result, the authors follow the line laid down with great ferocity by the CIA and its fellow agencies.The sections that deal with the Vatican and the politics and ceremony surrounding Pope John Paul II are much better and investigated at more depth. That makes it a book not bad for its time, but falling short in ours.

It was very interesting.the huge amount of secrecy. The power the church has within most countries. The good it most often tries to accomplish. The miss steps it often makes.the same obstacles it,s endured for members and laity for years.the faithfulness of millions thru eons of time.

Published in 1983, this work was a blockbuster in the mid 1980s. Not only is the book an absorbing read but the authors were correct and prescient in their expectations & predictions of the momentous pontificate of John Paul II. The significance of this pope who, together with Thatcher & Reagan, was responsible for the collapse of communism, is brilliantly explored in The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister by John O'Sullivan.The introduction provides a brief background on the history of the Papacy which is followed by a short chapter on the terrorist Mehmet Ali Agca, the Grey Wolves terror organization and the political violence in Turkey in the late 1970s.Part I assesses the person and the pontificate of Pope Paul VI, and his sickness & death in 1978. He was the first Bishop of Rome to appoint many cardinals from outside Italy & Europe.Part II includes a discussion of the fascinating processes & procedures of electing a pope. John Paul I was elected and lived for only 33 days. Then Karol Wojtyla was elected, the first Polish Pope, against the background of the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Block. The rise of the Solidarity trade union in Poland was the first sign of the impending implosion of the evil empire.Part III reveals the involvement of the KGB and the Bulgarian Secret Service in the assassination attempt. But John Paul II survived, made a quick recovery and was instrumental in bringing freedom to his native Poland and to the whole of Eastern Europe.The book contains a note on sources, notes on the text arranged by chapter, a bibliography and index.Pontiff remains a most enjoyable read and illuminating work with its insights into the working of the Vatican, the conclaves of cardinals electing the pope, the personalities of the time like the liberal theologian Hans Küng and the reactionary Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. It is peopled by a colorful array of interesting characters like the influential figures of the time in the Roman Catholic Church, including cardinals Casaroli, Koenig, Cody, Felici and Bishop Marcinkus.Of equal importance, it provides relevant information on the terrorist networks of the time and the co-operation between the KGB & Islamist terrorists. This book is highly recommended for the skillful way in which it reveals the history of the time, the developments that would lead to the implosion of the communist empire in the early 1990s, and the character of the greatest pope of the 20th century.

This isnt a very well written book. Quite a number of factual errors throughout, particularly in the section on Paul VI. Yes, it's interesting to read closeup shot after closeup shot, but what are we reading? The general picture that emerges after the intimate detail telling and revealing of secrets is probably more or less true, who can know? We know Cody was a kind of monster, we know about the Vatican Bank thugs, we know Pope Paul's desolate vacillation and its fruit. Archbishop Lefebvre comes in for short shrift given the effect his decisions have had on the Church in succeeding years, and the angle of the authors leaves little doubt how they view the bishop who would not submit. John Pauls I & II are ably treated but like Paul VI are only superficially plumbed. It's a popular book destined for those who want but a glance. The worst of this book is its shallow intent. Digging up facts and getting servants to spill this or that nugget doesnt form an engaging picture of the interior life of any papacy, let alone one as important as Montini's. Paul VI's considerable body of writings is overlooked, the animus between Villot and Benelli is hardly noted, and on and on. 'Pontiff' makes no claim as an historical work, but it claims to divulge history. I wonder. How can we know the intimate life of a pope? Should we? We read the history, that's enough, leave mystery its place. The rest pursues the gross tabloid chimera like a tracking hound, and makes for a fairly dismal book.

"Pontiff" is often listed as a biography of John Paul I. Yet, it is much more an attempt to explain his death rather than it is the record of his life. If one wants to learn about this good man's life I would suggest "Murder in the Vatican" by Lucien Gregoire which despite its title is much more about his life than it is about his death. In fact "Murder in the Vatican" is the only existing biography of John Paul I.Pontiff has perhaps the most accurate record of the Great Vatican Bank Scandal.I would read these books in order -Pontiff followed by Murder in the Vatican. Buy them as a pair.

This work by two investigative reporters is extremely interesting and well-written. How accurate it is I do not know, but I know thatI found it to be extremely absorbing reading.
